About the Birther Summit

The WHO

The Birther Summit is a national initiative spearheaded by Dean Haskins, which is being planned, and will be conducted, by many of the national leaders and spokespeople in the eligibility movement.

The WHY about the WHAT, WHEN, and WHERE

We are receiving many emails with suggestions and questions pertaining to specific elements that have already been discussed and considered at length by the Birther Summit Operations Team. We love hearing the ideas we are receiving from across the country; however, before sending us your ideas, please read this page, and see if those ideas are things that have already been determined by the Operations Team.

The Name

We are fully aware that the term “birther” has been used as a pejorative against those who know that Barack Obama is not constitutionally eligible to be president.BIRTHER-Logo-v02-Office-300x228 The first birthers were actually liberals who challenged John McCain's eligibility, so it is quite ironic that they adopted the term to ridicule and mock us. In determining the name of this summit, we considered several alternatives, such as “Eligibility Summit,” “Constitutional Summit,” “Natural Born Summit,” and “Article 2 Summit;” however, our decision to embrace the “Birther Summit,” seriously weighed a number things:

First, and foremost, it is the only name that immediately, and without ambiguity, identifies what we are doing. The world knows us as birthers. Period. We can all respond to the intended epithet with, “No, we're Constitutionalists,” but that will not change what we are called.

Next, the name itself was spawned from a specific letter written to SC Senator Lindsey Graham, in which he is called to host a “Birther Summit.” In that letter, the term was actually a veiled parody of Barack Obama's “historic” Beer Summit. To be fair, his Beer Summit was aptly named, as “Adult Malt Beverage Summit” just wouldn't have had the same appeal.

Finally, to embrace an epithet used to mock and deride is to empty the term of its venom. For too long, Obama's supporters have tried to belittle us with their silly little term (since they have no real argument against the simple facts), and it's time we pick up their schoolyard name-calling, and put it back in their faces. Whatever you regard yourself in this issue, name-wise, you're still a birther. Don't run from it; wear the name proudly! Once Barack Obama is removed from office due to his ineligibility, we can call ourselves whatever we want.

The Place

DC_rallyThere were many possible locations considered for the Birther Summit, the top ones being Las Vegas, Dallas, and Williamsburg, VA, but the Operations Team had to base this decision upon only one thing: what is the Birther Summit? The Birther Summit will culminate in a protest of our national leaders' ignoring our demands for redress of grievances. As such, if one is going to protest Washington, one really must protest IN Washington. To do otherwise would be like protesting something your local Walmart is doing, but gathering in front of Target to do it. Other locations might be more enjoyable from a “vacation” perspective, but the Birther Summit is the “work” we must do. The work exists in Washington, so that is where we must go. We can all gather in Vegas to celebrate after Obama is removed from office!

The Time

In determining when the Birther Summit will be held, there were two factors, and two only (and no, the weather really wasn't one of them—more on that in a bit). The first consideration was the time it will take to plan and implement the myriad logistics. The details that go into something of this magnitude are nothing less than daunting. The Operations Team determined that no less than eight to nine months would be necessary to implement all of the summit's components. The reason for not choosing a later date is that there has to be enough time after the summit to assure for a positive, constitutional resolution before the November elections. If one of the many individual actions across the country, which we fully support, were to result in the removal of the current unconstitutional "president," the march in Washington would then become a victory march, while the first-day conference would be a working session aimed at adopting initiatives to prevent future usurpations of our presidency.

The weather issue cannot be an issue. There is a usurper in the White House, and he's there whether it is snowing, raining, hailing, or the sun is shining. March in Washington typically runs the gamut of weather conditions, so anything is possible. We will simply have to plan to dress accordingly. As we approach the date of the rally, we will keep all of the registrants fully apprised of many things—one of those things being the weather forecast.

The Logo

The logo has been professionally designed, and it takes into consideration the symbolism it depicts, as well as its ability to be used effectively in message marketing, such as clothing and other items. Not all designs transfer well onto marketing pieces. This one does. As for the symbolism, the overall image is not a pyramid, it is representative of a summit (the top of a mountain). The two flags represent the United States of America on the RIGHT and Obama on the LEFT, with the universal “NO” symbol superimposed over Obama's logo within the 2012. That symbolism should be easily understood.

So, there you have it. These are elements of the summit that have been cemented by the Operations Team. Our request is that we all work to get the word out to everyone in America, rather than expending the energy to interject ideas and opinions about things that have already been decided.
